After an umpteenth trip to the gas station, Antoine asked me, “Why do we always have totip the gas station attendant 17.90 pesos ?”. I asked him what he meant. “Well, at every gas station we see boards with ‘tipo de cambio 17.90’ written on them.” He thought “tipo” meant tip. “Tipo de cambio” is the currency exchange rate. He had been tip-ping precisely 17.90 pesos at the gas station every single time since we arrived. He also told me I look like «Kendrick Jenner» in a bikini, whoever that is.
